It was called Ain Sukhna due to the large number of hot sulfur eyes in it, which are used for healing. It has non-rocky beaches with white sand, and it is considered a resort throughout the months of the year, summer and winter, and there are several areas and tourist villages.

Ain Sokhna is a tourist, investment, and industrial resort on the coast of the Gulf of Suez in the Red Sea, affiliated to the Suez Governorate in Egypt, 55 km from the city of Suez and one of the closest Red Sea resorts to Cairo, about 88 km away through the Cairo-Ain Sokhna road.
